Introducing the Ship
The QM2 is the first transatlantic liner to be built for 40 years, and at 151,400 tons, she's also the world's largest passenger ship to date. In fact, she's the longest, tallest, heaviest, and most expensive passenger ship in the world, and she's clad in the classic Cunard colors of black hull, red funnel.

The challenge in designing QM2 was to create a ship with modern, 21st century facilities without sacrificing the traditional "Britain at sea" ambience that made QE2 a classic.

The result is an outstanding success. While traditionalists may be surprised at some of her more modern elements, they are tempered with enough old-fashioned grace and elegance to make this ship a true 21st century classic.

This grandest ocean liner ever comes with an unprecedented cache of luxuries and innovations but still contains the whistle from the original Queen Mary which can be heard for 10 miles.

Cabins
Passenger accommodation is very impressive. Three quarters of the ship's cabins have balconies, and 30 cabins are equipped for the physically challenged.

In all, QM2 has 1,310 cabins to accommodate 2,620 passengers. Cabin categories include Grand Duplexes, Duplexes, Royal Suites, Penthouses, Suites, Junior Suites, Deluxe and Premium Balcony Cabins, Standard Oceanview Cabins, Atrium Cabins which overlook the interior of the ship, and Standard Inside Cabins.

Unlike the QE2, all cabins are quite roomy and very consistent in size throughout individual categories. Cabins range from 18m2 to 209m2, whereas QE2 cabins range from 7m2 to 110m2 with individual categories varying by up to 45% in size.

All cabins, including the minimum-grade inside cabins, are stylishly furnished, clad in pale beech wood veneer, even single beds are roomy, and duvets throughout the ship are fluffy and luxurious.

All cabins are equipped with interactive TVs with movies and music channels, also for guests to book shore excursions, make restaurant reservations, order from the ship's shops and even send e-mails. Other standard amenities include data port outlets, mini refrigerators, hair dryers, bathrobes and slippers, safes and 110-/220-volt outlets.

Concierges aboard the QM2 attend to guests in all of the Grill Accommodations, while the Queens Grill categories also feature private butler service.

For about per person you can try out a six-day transatlantic crossing cruising in style. You can roost in a 209m2 Grand Duplex apartment, complete with two bathrooms, large sitting room, separate dining room, private butler who will serve restaurant meals course by course if you so desire, and your own mini gym.

Dining
Stunning French-American cuisine and dedication to quality have made Cunard's culinary advisor Daniel Boulud one of the most famous chefs in the world. He has been the recipient of numerous awards from Bon Appetit's "Chef of the Year" to Gourmet's "Top Tables." People often wait months for a reservation at Daniel, his famous New York City bistro, ranked Number One for "Top Food" by the 2002 Zagat Survey. Guests can enjoy his cuisine aboard the QM2.

QM2 is similar to the QE2 in function, with a selection of three main dining rooms and passengers are assigned a reserved table each night at one of them based on cabin category.

Queen's Grill is reserved for passengers booked in Q category suites - Grand Duplexes, Duplexes, Royal Suites, Penthouses & Suites.

Princess Grill, decorated in cream and silver, is as stylish as QE2's top-grade restaurant and is reserved for those booked in P category - Junior Suites

Britannia is reserved for all other guests. Spanning two decks, it's dominated by a gigantic tapestry of QM2 set against the New York City skyline while the food and service by white-coated waiters are equally splendid.

QM2 has a number of alternative dining options. The Todd English restaurant features Mediterranean-influenced cuisine. Todd English is a renowned American chef whose 'Olives of Boston' has made him a rising star in the restaurant world. One of the neat features of this restaurant is the al fresco dining area.

Kings Court is a good option for casual dining and is open for breakfast and lunch. At night it morphs into intimate, themed dining venues... an Asian restaurant, an Italian trattoria, and the Carvery. Also located here is the Chef's Galley, an interactive experience where the kitchen is exposed to reveal the process of cooking.

The Golden Lion Pub offers snacks and the world's best beers. The Boardwalk Café is located near the pool for the ultimate in casual dining... you can even lunch in your bathing suit. The Winter Garden is the locale for traditional afternoon tea service, complete with devonshire fare.

Public Rooms
In many respects, the QM2 has succeeded in creating the feel of a traditional ocean liner. The Grand Promenade on Deck 3, was modeled on the great liner Normandie... high-ceilinged, very broad and lined with Art Deco murals reminiscent of the Chrysler Building. Flanked by the pretty silver and turquoise Chart Room and the Mayfair shops (including Hermes, Dunhill, and Gucci), it is quite impressive.

Close by is a winged observation platform that offers impressive views down the length of the ship, which seems to stretch to infinity! The ship's forward observation areas are located on Deck 13, the ship's top deck, a dizzying 236 feet above sea level.

Meanwhile on Deck 3 The Queen's Room offers the largest ballroom at sea and is far more stylish than its counterpart on QE2 and nearby the Royal Court Theatre with plush red seats and a substantial stage has all the feel of a Victorian music hall. The Atlantic Card Room located at the prow of Deck 11 is smart enough to host onboard weddings in port.

Fitness & Recreation
The two-tier Canyon Ranch health spa on Deck 7 spans over 2,000 m2, a facility which includes 24 treatment rooms, a thalassotherapy pool with deluge waterfall, a whirlpool, thermal suite with both herbal and Finnish saunas, reflexology basins and an aromatic steam room. A team of 51 health and wellness experts provide life-changing programmes from stress-relief classes to workshops on diet, healthy aging and disease prevention.

The outdoor sports center on Deck 13 is comprised of ballgame courts, a splash pool, a giant chess board, and markings for Deck Quoits.

A separate "Fairways" area with golf simulators is located on Deck 12. Also located on Deck 12 is the magradome-roofed Pavilion solarium, holding a substantial thalassotherapy pool, whirlpools, steam rooms, and saunas.

Take a virtual ride into outer space, view the stars and other visual spectacles or take a course on celestial navigation in Illuminations, the QM2 full-scale and world's first-ever planetarium on a cruise ship. It also functions as a grand cinema, a 500-seat lecture hall and even a broadcasting studio.

The QM2 cultural enrichment programme Cunard ConneXions™ includes seven classrooms and a 500-seat auditorium where you can attend workshops, seminars and lectures presenting a fusion of perspectives from the world's premier cultural hotspots: New York and London. Classes range from fashion to foreign languages, watercolor techniques to period furniture. Try film making, join a discussion of British comedy, or even compare MoMA and the Tate.

Renowned international artists were commissioned to produce over 300 original works of art valued at over $5 million. For history buffs, the museum-quality Maritime Quest exhibit is a fascinating tour that takes you back to the golden era of transatlantic cruising on board the QM2.

Guests can surf the web, check e-mail or even transmit a video postcard to friends and family back home and can take classes in the QM2 Computer Centre, or bring their own laptop. Every stateroom has direct Internet access.

QM2 was designed to accommodate all ages. For guests who wish to take their children or grandchildren along, The Play Zone is like a well-run camp for children 2 - 7 years old. A separate facility, The Zone, provides hours of supervised entertainment and activities for children 8- 12 years old.

The area includes the Minnows splash pool and British nannies for the toddlers. And it's equipped with an array of toys and activities from board games to computer terminals with all kinds of learning adventures, so that while kids are doing their thing, adults have some quality time alone.
