Dawn Princess cruises out of Sydney and Melbourne around Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands. Annually in May she departs for a 3-month circumnavigation of the world. Cruises range from 11 nights upwards.

Dawn Princess entered service in 1997 at 77,000 GT carrying 1950 passengers, and now targets Australian travellers. During her 2009 refurbishment additions included a Movies Under the Stars screen in the main pool area and an adults-only private sunbathing area, the Retreat, at the front of the ship. Guests are Australians and New Zealanders; for long itineraries there are more seniors, at other times families and teachers.

Accommodation - Dawn Princess has five types of cabins: insides, outside, balconies, mini-suites and suites. Of her 975 staterooms, 603 have windows and 410 have balconies. All come with flat-screen TV, AC, fridge, desk and telephone, walk-in closets and ample storage space, private ensuite with complimentary toiletries, and daily service (extra charge for 24 hour room serviced). Décor is neat and attractive. Standard cabins range from 135 to 155 sq.ft., are well-designed and functional Two lower beds make up into a queen-size bed. There are 12 wheelchair-accessible cabins. Room service is available 24 hours a day.

Deluxe staterooms come with sitting area and desk, at 179 sq.ft. with balcony. Suites range from 370 to 695 sq.ft., allowing for larger balcony, private bedroom, Jacuzzi bathtub, separate shower, sofa bed and dining table in the sitting area, and space for entertaining. Décor is warm and deluxe across all cabins.

Food & Dining - There are two main dining rooms (non-smoking, and no “Anytime Dining”), and dinner is served in two set seatings in each dining room with assigned tables and tablemates. Breakfast and lunch are provided in an open seating arrangement. For really good steak and barbecued chicken try the Stirling Steakhouse (extra charge), A popular dining venue is the casual Horizon Court, open 24 hours a day.

Alternative eating venues are: La Scala Pizzeria, a patisserie for good coffees and pastries, a wine/caviar bar, and at poolside order hamburgers, hot dogs and ice cream. Passengers booked in cabins with balconies can order several special, romantic meals to be served restaurant-style on the verandah.

Entertainment & Activities - In the evening having two show lounges (both theatre and cabaret style) is a great way to give passengers more entertainment choices. During her 2009 refurbishment additions included a Movies Under the Stars screen in the main pool area and an adults-only private sunbathing area, the Retreat, at the front of the ship. Add bars, lounges, cinema, nightclub, and casino.

Daytime entertainment offerings include all the cruise ship standards, plus a wide range of “@Sea” activities (computers, ceramics, dance etc.) for every taste. One special offering is the Ultimate Ship Tour, and for a price receive many take-aways. “Fun Zone”, Shockwaves, and teen Remix program caters for all the youngsters. On world cruises passengers generally commit to a regular activity.
