From late December 2010 the Pacific Pearl will offer 10-night cruises out of Auckland to Pacific Islands. From early February 2011 she sails from Sydney to Pacific Islands, New Zealand and Tasmania. In late April 2011 she relocates to Auckland for cruises to South Pacific Islands and the great Barrier Reef. The ship’s 2010 refit will follow the lines of her sister vessels: spacious staterooms will feature refrigerator, flat-screen TV, walk-in closets and ample storage space.

Sailing since 1989, Pacific Pearl will arrive from the UK for her latest refurbishment in 2010. This 63,524 GT large resort ship will enter P&O Australia service in late 2010. She carries around 2,000 passengers and will be ideally suited for young couples, singles of all ages and families, with plenty of open deck space, two large pools, wading pool, and extensive child and teenager facilities including indoor/outdoor play areas located aft. Pacific Pearl will feature a distinctive forward domed and curved observation lounge offering spectacular views. The 12 decks will feature an array of entertainment venues and amenities, restaurants, bars, lounges, cinema, casino, spa, internet cafe and atrium lobby shops.

Accommodation - All cabins are spacious (most are 17.5 sq.m., and a few triple cabins at 13.5 sq.m.), with twin beds mostly convertible to queen size. Some cabins have two additional upper berths. All come with flat-screen TV, AC, fridge, desk and telephone, walk-in closets and ample storage space, private ensuite with complimentary toiletries, and daily service (extra charge for 24 hour room serviced). Décor is neat and attractive.

About three-quarters of the cabins are outside, having a large window (or porthole in the case of a few). Eight cabins are wheelchair accessible. Cots are available for children under three years. Of the 668 cabins, on the upper decks 28 are Outside with Balcony (21.2 sq.m.) and 36 Mini-Suites (30.5 sq.m.) come with balconies, upgraded bathrooms and a range of extras, and which accommodate up to four.

Food & Dining - Dining will be where and when you like: “Your Choice Dining”. The décor following her refurbishment is yet to be seen, but based on other ships in the P&O Line expect something bright and extremely colourful and bright. Will a celebrity chef be appointed to prepare the menus as with Pacific Jewel? We will have to await an announcement. Dress up for the formal dinner/s. The crews with this Line have a name for friendliness and the food selection will be plentiful and varied.

Expect four restaurants, and a café on the Lido Deck serving casual meals and grills, that at night offers less formal dining with pasta, steaks, salads and desserts – though you might dress up for the Salt Grill. Themed bars and lounges will be aplenty. This ship most likely will have its own chocolate café on board, serving up chocolate ravioli, warm chocolate fondant, Belgium waffles and a range of cookies and chocolate cake.

Entertainment & Activities - The Marquee, two decks high, is the main venue for production shows and major cabaret acts. The theatre also doubles as a big-screen cinema. Other centres of entertainment are the bars and lounges scattered throughout the ship, including (on some cruises) the adults-only Sit Down Comedy Club, and the casino.

By day guests can join in a variety of organised activities. The top sun decks offer outdoor ball sports and a jogging track, two large pools, and hot tub. Under the sun on the upper decks is the ocean-view Aqua Health, Spa and Fitness centre that spans two decks and 1,300 square meters. It features ocean view treatment rooms, a salon, fitness centre and thermal suite. The Children’s Centres that cater for a range of ages is situated at the rear of the top deck.

The season will commence with South Pacific voyages offering a choice of remote destinations. These will include visits to Fiji's idyllic Dravuni Island and new ports at Vanuatu's Luganville, Pentecost, Wala and New Caledonia's Poum.

These cruises reveal the true magnificence of Queensland's coast. From Brisbane to Cairns and further, experience the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef, Whitsundays and charm of Port Douglas.

Tasmania & New Zealand
It is anticipated Pacific Pearl will embark on 12-14 day adventures across to Milford Sound then port hopping up the East coast of both islands to Auckland before returning home.
