Magic Mountain on the Gold Coast is an excellent resort and the restaurants close by were very good, we tried almost all of them. The staff at MM were very helpful and friendly and we would not hesitate recommending it to anyone.
The only very small downside was having to walk up and down the hill! However, we all have very good calf muscles to come home with. The only point I would make is that MM do accept "schoolies" and apparently quite a lot were there the week before us, luckily we missed the majority as we were told it was not very pleasant with them there. Dear Kylie, We cannot tell you how much we enjoyed our holiday to
Heron Island and Wilson Island. As you predicted, Wilson Island was pure magic. We had a wonderful time getting to know the island (dodging the birdie "bombs") and snorkelling right off the beach.
Two unforgettable experiences were being able to snorkel within 5m of a pair of mating turtles and watching a turtle laying its eggs late one evening (they really do look like ping pong balls).
We are very grateful to our hosts Jacinta and Heath who really looked after us - special mention must be made of the fantastic culinary delights Heath cooked up - and of the other guests who were there (2 other couples) who were as chilled out as we were and happy to make the most of some pretty persistent rain at times.
We were sad to leave but are now determined to discover other equally amazing holiday experiences (which may just mean returning to Wilson Island in the not too distant future). Dear Sali, What a wonderful
Orion Barrier Reef cruise! It was supposed to be a relaxing holiday for Gabi and me but it turned out to be quite a busy time because we wanted to participate in as many of the activities as possible and we are so pleased that we did. We tried snorkling and kayaking and went for nature walks - just so informative. Met some nice people and the crew went out of their way to be friendly and helpful.
There were only 47 pax, which was good because we had plenty of space - room to breathe. Steve Parish, the renowned nature photographer was a guest speaker and he was just brilliant.
Concerning you and Globenet Travel - we are really pleased that we went to the Internet and found you. We were initially going to deal with a local travel agent but they didn't seem all that helpful and you were just the opposite. We very much appreciated the fact that you put us on to the great offer of the two for one which meant that we were able to have a beautiful suite. We were very happy with the service you provided and will make sure we recommend you to familly and friends.

Hi Sonia, The trip to
Wilson Island was absolutely fantastic. Everything went off without a hitch, and the island was just amazing. They put us in the tent which you intended. I think the others might have been a little less in the heart of the nesting birds, but they are not one the beach, and we much preferred where we were.
The turtles were starting to nest when we went (early November), which was an experience in and of itself. One nested not 15 feet away from our tent. The hosts were wonderful, the food excellent (fresh coral trout for dinner one night -- see the attached photo), the beach pristine and the snorkling unforgettable.
We were fortunate in that the other guests (there were only 8 of us) were a really fun group of people, but had that not been the case, it would have been very easy to keep to oneself and enjoy surroundings just as much. My only regret is not taking along some kind of telescope, as the stars and planets were vivid and included constellations that we don't get to see in Seattle. But all in all, an anniversary (10 years) that we won't soon forget.
Also, taking the helicopter to and from
Heron Island was a great idea, notwithstanding the expense. I think Heron would be a great trip with the family, but for a couple, nothing could top Wilson." Keith P., London, England (29 Nov 05)

Hello Sonia, Although we have been in Australia for almost a month, we have only scratched the surface of what this huge and wonderful country offers. But what we have seen has been wonderful. We landed in Sydney. The view of the
Sydney Opera House from our room #2909 at the the
Intercontinental in Sydney took our breath away, and still does. Taronga Zoo gave us a great introduction to the region's unusual and wonderful animals.
In
Tasmania, boardwalks permitting access into the heart of an otherwise impenetrable temperate rainforest were amazing. We saw surprising beauty in Tasmania, and loved the island, its forests and its animals.
Kangaroo Island had wonderful gardens, protected forests, sea lions, kangaroos and koalas seen in their natural habitat - it was wonderful.
Kewarra Beach Resort and then The
Reef Endeavour 4-day cruise from Cairns gave an appreciation of the Great Barrier Reef and some wonderful snorkeling. Linda snorkeled for the first time and loved it (the queasy feeling provided by the boat's slow roll didn't make the same hit!).
In planning the trip, Linda wanted particularly to see the Coral Spawn - an annual event on 3 particular days after the full moon in November. On the last night of our stay on
Heron Island it occurred! Photos accessed show what we saw the next morning, after the nighttime spawning.
The spawning event and Roger's accompanying a Green Turtle researcher for 4 late-night hours walking the beach and following turtle tracks to document tagged turtle information were special. Lady Elliott Island is a really great place. Both my husband and I agreed that probably 3 nights would have been better (2 full days) but we both enjoyed the island and what it offered. We were even lucky enough to have a green sea turtle climb up the beach to lay her eggs quite close to our room. The rooms are quiet and the food is quite good. Hideaway Island Sunset Bungalows was very very nice!!! Hi Zoe, Yes we are back and we are happy very happy with all the Tasmania accomodation etc. 8 nights at
Cradle Mountain are just not enough and we will be going back there for sure. The kids love to do all the tracking, which is quite surprising, because we usually just stay in the resort and do nothing much.
We did the 6 km walk around Dove Lake, very nice. We went to see quite a lot of water falls, I'll ask my husband to send some photo for you. I love all the art & crafts and wants to buy more wood craft, I'm a box collector and only like the nice one, which is quite expensive, but have to get one............ just one more........ Zoe, Our trip on the
Reef Endeavour ended yesterday and we are now at
Sofitel Reef Casino Hotel again. Thanks very much for your help in working out the arrangements. The Captain Cook office is directly across the street, and check-in is done there - so location is VERY convenient, and the hotel is great. The hotel is also excellent in its services as well as facilities.
So I will suggest to the Captain Cook people that they recommend it, and I am suggesting (by copy of this note to Megan Packer, a Front Officer Manager of the hotel) that the hotel can recommend Captain Cook Reef Endeavour Cruises with confidence regarding its services. Some photos we took on the cruise, and the information below, will also help your understanding.
The trip continues to be more than we had either expected or hoped for. Two days ago I was able to snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef at Ribbon Reef #5 (Linda had snorkeled the previous day at Watson's Bay on Lizard Island and LOVED it - but Ribbon Reef is open water with no beach, and the waves were choppy, so she did not risk it). The beauty seen in that snorkeling can't be described, but a $20 waterproof camera gave some photos which accompany this note.
