The Resort
Lizard Island is an exclusive boutique style resort, undoubtedly one of Australia's premier resorts offering total indulgence in paradise. Located one hour's flight north of Cairns, the island is remote, ruggedly beautiful and surrounded by some of the finest beaches and clearest waters of any Great Barrier Reef island.

The Lizard Island resort offers magnificent reefs and is internationally renowned for its underwater adventures, superb cuisine, discreet yet attentive service and stunning natural environment. It recently underwent a $13 million rebuild.

Our consultants regularly visit Lizard Island to improve their product knowledge - view some of their recent photos here.

Accommodation - see rooms
The resort has 40 rooms, it is an adult retreat, children under 13 years are not catered for and there are no day trippers.

Activities
The clear emerald waters surrounding Lizard Island are home to a kaleidoscope of coral reefs and countless tropical fish. Activities include snorkelling and Great Barrier Reef trips. Scuba diving is available just off Lizard Island. A world famous dive location, the Cod Hole, is close by. Each year between September to December the rich waters attract game fishers in pursuit of the Black Marlin.

Dining
The tariff includes all meals and selected alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Gourmet picnic hampers for beach outings are available on request. Lizard Island resort's restaurant, Osprey's, has an open verandah overlooking the beach and ocean in a relaxed and intimate setting. The cuisine showcases the finest local produce with emphasis on local seafood, lush tropical fruits, premium product and the diversity of cultures that have shaped the Australian food scene.

Meals emphasize seafood and tropical fruits and include such dishes as fresh coral trout panfried and served with a passion-fruit sauce. An excellent wine list complements the menu while romantic dining right on the beach in a private marquee offers a special experience.
